Warren One, But C. Booze Gets Two and Ties Up Points Battle...

Sooner or later its going to happen, Christian Booze is going to sweep the night at Redmen Raceway.  For the second week in a row the teen slot car racing sensation grabbed the first two mains of the night, before the RR handicap system kicked in.  Only Sheffield's John Warren had an answer this week, stopping the sweep in the finale of World 100 night for Tyco late models.

Two more for Christian Booze

The younger Booze ran away with the Trackmate Racing systems championship points format, nabbing three segment wins and 32 total points.  John Warren was the best of the rest with one segment win and 28 points.  Ryan Missler also picked up a segment win for third.  Justin Liskai, Randy Dickman, Lee Booze and Lillian Missler rounded out the event.

Justin Liskai (aka The Authority) doesn't make $175 a week, but its still fine...

In race two, a 25 lap per lane event, Booze again proved to be on target.  With segment wins in the orange and yellow lanes (!), Booze held on for a one lap victory over Lee Booze and Randy Dickman.  John Warren, Ryan Missler and Justin Liskai trailed.

The third event began under a cloud of controversy, as Redmen Raceway timing and scoring failed to adjust the race set up to the correct format.  The error was caught after heat 1, and it was decided to continue under the same format as the previous event.  John Warren was adapted best and secured a three lap victory over Ryan Missler, Christian Booze and Justin Liskai.  Randy Dickman and Lee Booze finished a close fifth and sixth.

JW says, I'm old enough to remember wedge LMs!

The first two weeks of late model racing at Redmen Raceway were deemed a huge success with close competition and competitive cars being supplied by Four and a Half Star Bodies.  After the holiday break the modifieds will be back for one night, then its sprint car season at RR!

C. Booze Gets Two, Dickman One in LM Action

For the first time ever at Redmen Raceway, Dirt Late Models (cast by 4 1/2 Star Bodies) took to the high banks, and the results were spectacular.  All three mains were the most competitive of the season, with none decided by more than one lap.

Christian Booze is all concentration, Randy Dickman is all relaxed...

In the first event of the night (TrackMate Championship Format), Christian Booze and Lee Booze both collected 25 points over four lanes, but the younger took the win on the tiebreaker.  Ryan Missler finished third by proxy (as if the PRI show was more important than race night! ed.).  Randy Dickman, Justin Liskai and John Warren rounded out the field.

Doubling Up...

Ryan Missler (pictured left), goes to the PRI Show and still comes out the point leader, JW and Justin (right) can only laugh at the injustice!

Randy Dickman finally cracked the winner's circle this season.

The second event of the night, a 25 lap per lane event, yielded one of the closest finishes in recent memory at RR.  When the power turned off for the final time four drivers sat tied with 92 laps.  Despite being handicapped one get-in per lane, Christian prevailed for the second time on the evening.  Finishing second was John Warren, third, Lee Booze and fourth Randy Dickman all on the leap lap.  a ghost-like Ryan Missler and Justin Liskai finished up the race.

No this crash wasn't staged...weird...

Going into the third main of the night, all eyes were on Christian Booze who was looking to clean up on the hardware for the evening.  But the raceway handicap system proved too tough as the double winner crashed out on lane 4 nixing his chances at the sweep.  Randy Dickman drove a clean race, crashing only once in four lanes to grab the nightcap with 89 laps in the 60 sec per lane event.  John Warren finished second, half a lap ahead of Lee Booze.  Justin Liskai, a transparent Ryan Missler and Christian Booze rounded out the race.

The vintage mods were on display in the infield.  A new class for RR?

Thursday 12-14-17, Redmen Raceway will host "World 100" night celebrating the historic event at Eldora Speedway.  Racing starts at 7pm.

Warren Two, Booze One in Modified Action at RR

Sheffield Lake slot veteran John Warren nabbed two wins last Thursday, but a rookie move cost him a change at an evening sweep.

Race one on the evening featured the Trak Mate Timing Championship format, with a new scoring system that ensured all drivers were rewarded points for each heat.  After five lanes of racing John Warren took the win with 31 points (2 lane wins) two points over Ryan Missler (with three lane wins, but a disasterous yellow lane).  Lee Booze picked up one lane win and finished third with 28 points.  Christian Booze, Randy Dickaman, Justin Liskai, rookie racer Lillian Missler rounded out the field.

John Warren says "I'll get you next time, Boozer!"...He did.

Race two, a 25 lap by five lane affair ended with controversy and ended Warren's chance for a sweep.  When the power cut off for the last time, the counter read 110 laps for both Lee Booze and John Warren.  However, JW failed to mark his spot, having spent the final heat on sit out.  Booze won the final heat, parking his car just past the lap counter.  Redmen Raceway rules indicate that ties are broken by a racers final stopping position on their final heat.  With Booze winning one more heat than Warren and no finishing spot for Warren marked the race was awarded to Booze by the track ownership (yes...that's Booze).  Ryan Missler out-coasted Christian Booze for third with Justin Liskai and Randy Dickman finishing out the main.

Christian Booze studies the line up before the power comes on...

Warren made up for his mistake on the final event of the Evening.  In the 60 second per lane, five lane event, Warren secured a one lap victory over Christian Booze 111 to 110.  Ryan Missler, Lee Booze, Randy Dickman and Justin Liskai followed.

Coming up on December 7 (yes, Pearl Harbor Day), Redmen Raceway will feature an all Late Model evening of racing for the first time ever.  Ironically, Late Model racer Ryan Missler will be missing from the field as the PRI show in Indy is calling him away.  Maybe next year we'll just take the track to Indy as well!

Missler's Double Propels Him to Points Lead

After being shut out on opening night at Redmen Raceway, former track champion Ryan Missler roared back in a big way on week two, taking two of three mains and leapfrogging into the points lead.
Ryan Missler doubled this week!

Missler took the opening Championship style points per heat race with 19 points for the five lane affair.  Missler grabbed two segment wins in the process.  Randy Dickman also claimed two segment wins, but a 1 point run in the orange lane doomed his bid for the win.  Christian Booze nabbed one segment win for third (15 points).  Mark Gierhart and John Warren tied with 10 points and got the tie breaker on finishing position.  Lee Booze and Justin Liskai were hopelessly behind in sixth and seventh.
Veteran racer JW got back to his winning ways.

In the 25 laps per lane race #2, Missler again proved to be the man to beat, getting two segment wins and pulling away for a two lap advantage over the field.  Mark Gierhart, making his first appearance in 2017-18 squeaked by Randy Dickman for second (112 laps).  John Warren, Christian Booze, Justin Liskai and Lee Booze rounded out the field.

In the night capper, John Warren captured the win in the one minute per lane, five lane race with 115 laps.  Ryan Missler, Mark Gierhart and Lee Booze all finished with 113 laps respectively.  Randy Dickman, Christian Booze and Justin Liskai completed the event.
The Lou Blaney machine did fair so well on its namesake night.

What's Justin looking at, cause it sure isn't the track!

Racing returns to Redmen Raceway this Thursday 11-30-17 for Super Dirt Week featuring the TYCO Modifieds.

11-15 Wednesday Night!

Reminder, this week's upcoming race will be held on WEDNESDAY night 7pm.  On tap will be the Lou Blaney Memorial for Modifieds.

Christian Booze Takes Home the Big Iron

Opening night for the 2017-18 racing season featured three extremely close races, and when the power turned off for the final time it was Christian Booze who emerged at the front of the field.

Your Big Iron Winner!

Boosted by two wins (Modifieds, Late Models) and a fifth place finish Booze topped track owner and Sprint Car race winner Lee Booze for the big trophy 275 to 260 points.  Ryan Missler had a solid night with a 2nd, 4th and 3rd to finish third overall on the night.

The first event up was the championship-points per lane (5-3-2-1 for top four) format for Sprint Cars.  Lee Booze picked up two lane wins in four heats with two seconds with a 16 point tally.  Booze narrowly held off Ryan Missler for the win as he also collected two heat wins, but a third place finish in the green lane dropped him to 15 points overall.  Also collecting heat wins were Justin Liskai (3rd overall), rookie of the year contender Lillian Missler and an absent John Warren who was entered and raced by proxy by drivers filling in for him.

The action was intense on opening night!

The second race of the evening was for big block modifieds racing for 20 laps per lane for four lanes.  Christian Booze held off pops Lee Booze for the victory that would prove crucial in the final drive for the big iron.  Both turned 76 laps (out of a possible 80) with the younger Booze getting the edge when the power light went out.  Randy Dickman had his best race of the night coming home third.  Ryan Missler, Justin Liskai and a proxied John Warren rounded out the field.

The question was asked early in the night what would happen if John Warren won a race but wasn't actually there to get the trophy?  The question was nearly answered when the cooperative effort of the club almost got the veteran into the winner's circle without actually leaving the house!  Christian Booze played spoiler, however, picking up the half-lap win and securing the trophy for the evening in the 60 second per lane late model night-capper.  Randy Dickman, Justin Liskai, Ryan Missler and Lee Booze (ed. note: Lee had the race won and all he had to do was stay on the track but the notorious yellow lane reached up and bit him hard...) rounded out the evening.

All three classes were in action this past week...

Reminder: NEXT WEEK'S RACE WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT 7PM!!! THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINALLY RELEASED SCHEDULE...

2017-18 Schedule Released...

As racing on the track winds down for 2017, the action will be picking up at Redmen Raceway.  An exciting winter slot car racing season is on tap with racing in the TYCO Big Block Modified, Late Model and Sprint Car classes.

The season will be bookended with big trophy events featuring all three classes in one evening.  Opening day is slated for Thursday November 9.  All three classes of cars will be in action with the combined points getter of the evening taking home the big iron.

Thursday night racing will continue through November and early December.  Races celebrating Lou Blaney (Modifieds), Super Dirt Week at Oswego (Modifieds), the UMP Hell Tour at Oakshade (Late Models) and the famous World 100 at Eldora (Late Models) will be held on the six lane oval.

After the holiday break racing will resume on Wednesdays in January and February.  Lee's Birthday Bash (Modifieds) will kick things off on January 10.  Then three races of Sprint Cars are on tap.  The Jim Ford Classic (January 17), Brad Doty Classic (January 31) and the King's Royal (February 7) are staples on the Redmen Raceway season calendar.  The Johnny Appleseed Classic for Late Models will go off on February 21.  The season will conclude with another big trophy event, the Spring Nationals on February 28 (Sprints/Late Models/Modifieds).

The season champion will be the driver who claims the high points nights from ten of the eleven events over the course of the season.

The numbers have finally been crunched...

...and Ryan Missler has been crowned Redmen Raceway season champion.  Using an algorithm hacked from the Russians (or maybe a Nigerian prince asking for money), the final points tabulations can be found to the right.

Tuesday 7-11, Redmen Raceway will be running a non-points event in conjunction with the Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park.  Racing will start around 3ish with food at 5pm.  If it goes well the portable may make another appearance this summer at a track nearby...

Missler Sweeps Royal, Booze and Booze get a pair...

The last two weeks of racing at Redmen Raceway featured action galore.  First up February 2, it was a scene right out of Bill Murray's "Ground Hog's Day".  Each race produced the same result: Ryan Missler in victory lane.

The all sprint car night featured three unique races, with the cars remaining in their respective lanes and only the drivers switching on the rotations.  The first race featured a six lane rotation with drivers running 20 laps per lane.  The second race used the unique Trakmate "championship" format  assigning points for each driver's finishing position in that lane.  The third and final event, "The King's Royal" used the traditional 60 seconds per lane racing (6 lanes total).

No matter what format, Ryan Missler more than made up for his lackluster season by sweeping all three formats.  In the Joker's Wild event Missler won two of the six lanes to edge Lee Booze by one lap.  Randy Dickman was just go-around short of him for third.  John Warren, Justin Liskai, Bruce Minner and Christian Booze rounded out the field.

In the Knight Before the Royal event.  Missler again captured two lane wins to narrowly defeat Justin Liskai by one point 25 to 24 (points awarded 6-5-4-3-2-1).  Christian Booze came home third (22).  Lee Booze edged out Randy Dickman on lane sections (20 pts each).  John Warren and Bruce Minner closed out the scoring (19 and 17 pts.).

In the main event, Missler drove away to a two lap win over Christian Booze.  Justin Liskai edged John Warren for the final podium spot while Randy Dickman and Bruce Minner rounded out the field.

After a week off racing resumed on February 16 for #LetsRaceTwo night for mods and sprints.  Christian Booze captured the Sprint Car portion of the night putting three laps on Randy Dickman and Justin Liskai.  Ryan Missler, Lee Booze and John Warren rounded out the field.

In the modified nightcapper, Lee Booze kept the wins in the family with one lap victory over Randy Dickman.  Christian Booze edged Justin Liskai for third.  John Warren and Ryan Missler trailed.

Racing returns on February 23 with an all Modified show.  The season wraps up on March 2 with an all sprint car format...

Date Switch Alert!!!!

Reminder racing switches to Thursday starting this week 2-2-17!!!

Its Booze and Warren Again in the Silver Cup!

Lernerville's Silver is legendary in the dirt track racing universe and Redmen Raceway's H.O. version of that classic didn't disappoint.

First up were the Tyco Big Block Modifieds, and for the second week in a row Christian Booze outpaced the competition for his eighth career Redmen Raceway win.  Ryan Missler out dueled Lee Booze for the runner up spot.  Justin Liskai edged out Randy Dickman for fourth and John Warren limped along with sixth.

Warren rebounded well capturing the Ed Lynch Jr. plaque for the Silver Cup Sprint Car win.  JW didn't come by the victory easily as he squeaked by Randy Dickman by only twenty car lengths after four minutes of racing.  Lee Booze again finished third.  Christian Booze came home fourth while Ryan Missler and Justin Liskai rounded out the field.

Reminder to all RR competitors, racing switches to THURSDAY nights starting February 2, 2017.  We will see you then!

Dickman Sweeps Throwback Night, Booze, Warren Split Regular Races...

Way back in 1998 the original Redmen Raceway debuted, with real red paint and racers bumping and shoving their way around the track in crash-n-burn slot car racing.  Those memories were rekindled this past Wednesday with the debut of the "Rumble" track at Redmen Raceway.  In an effort to work out the kinks of the new track two traditional crack-the-whip style events were held on the portable track.

Proving that he hasn't forgotten how to race "elbows up" on the narrow AFX plastic track, Randy Dickman swept the two events on second ever portable layout at RR.  In race one (Modifieds) Dickman held off Lee Booze, with both trigger pullers pushing the limit for the win.  Dickman backed up the win with another this time holding off Christian Booze in the Sprint Car race.

Moving over to the more modern full sized Redmen Raceway dirt track with computer timing and scoring the outcomes were a little different.  John Warren walked the dog in the Sprint Car main taking a three lap victory over Christian Booze.  Bruce Minier rebounded after his first experience of crash-n-burn racing with a solid third place performance.  Justin Liskai, Lee Booze and Randy Dickman rounded out the field.

In the Modified Main nightcapper, Christian Booze got the win he'd been hunting for all evening, securing a two lap advantage over Warren.  Dickman, Lee Booze, Liskai and Minier finished up behind the young winner.

Redmen Raceway management solicited opinions from the racers afterward about the new venue with some ideas to improve the racing surface for future events.  Certainly, computer scoring is in the future, but ultimately the "Rumble" track will be transformed, with a smoother surface installed.  Is a "Chili Bowl" like venue in the works?  We will have to wait and see...

Liskai, Warren Win, JW Vaults to Points Lead!

It was a busy night at Redmen Raceway on January 11.  Between the extra large food table, discussions of Mansfield dirt transformation, the Chili Bowl and Carl Edwards retirement, there was hardly time to race!

But once the power came on, the action was intense.  In the Sprint Car main, Justin Liskai handled the Brad Doty Coors Light machine to perfection to notch his third career win (and second that car) at RR.  Randy Dickman edged out John Warren for second only one lap behind.  Ryan Missler was only a couple of wrecks from contending finishing in fourth.  Bruce Minier, making a rare appearance from Parkwood Motor Speedway in Strongsville rounded out the top five.  The Birthday boy Lee Booze filled with bday cake finished sixth and the Flyin' Fireman Brian Ackerman came home seventh.

In the Modified night capper, John Warren ran away with a three lap win in the Billy Pauch #1.  Warren's double podium night boosted him to the top of the table in the season-long points battle.  Justin Liskai backed up his Sprint win with a fine performance in the Billy Decker 91 for second.  Randy Dickman came home third in the Tremont 115.  Rounding out the field was Lee Booze, Ryan Missler, Brian Ackerman and Bruce Minier.

On a side note, as of last weekend Redmen Raceway picked a Goodyear tire deal.  While it was roundly criticized in the pit area, the promotional staff instructed the racers to suck it up and race.  The rash of accidents was roundly blamed on the new tires.  Nobody heard the winners complaining though...

Tire sales were brisk on the first day for Goodyear...
