Your Big Iron Winner!
Boosted by two wins (Modifieds, Late Models) and a fifth place finish Booze topped track owner and Sprint Car race winner Lee Booze for the big trophy 275 to 260 points. Ryan Missler had a solid night with a 2nd, 4th and 3rd to finish third overall on the night.
The first event up was the championship-points per lane (5-3-2-1 for top four) format for Sprint Cars. Lee Booze picked up two lane wins in four heats with two seconds with a 16 point tally. Booze narrowly held off Ryan Missler for the win as he also collected two heat wins, but a third place finish in the green lane dropped him to 15 points overall. Also collecting heat wins were Justin Liskai (3rd overall), rookie of the year contender Lillian Missler and an absent John Warren who was entered and raced by proxy by drivers filling in for him.
The action was intense on opening night!
The second race of the evening was for big block modifieds racing for 20 laps per lane for four lanes. Christian Booze held off pops Lee Booze for the victory that would prove crucial in the final drive for the big iron. Both turned 76 laps (out of a possible 80) with the younger Booze getting the edge when the power light went out. Randy Dickman had his best race of the night coming home third. Ryan Missler, Justin Liskai and a proxied John Warren rounded out the field.
The question was asked early in the night what would happen if John Warren won a race but wasn't actually there to get the trophy? The question was nearly answered when the cooperative effort of the club almost got the veteran into the winner's circle without actually leaving the house! Christian Booze played spoiler, however, picking up the half-lap win and securing the trophy for the evening in the 60 second per lane late model night-capper. Randy Dickman, Justin Liskai, Ryan Missler and Lee Booze (ed. note: Lee had the race won and all he had to do was stay on the track but the notorious yellow lane reached up and bit him hard...) rounded out the evening.
All three classes were in action this past week...
Reminder: NEXT WEEK'S RACE WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT 7PM!!! THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINALLY RELEASED SCHEDULE...
