Redmen Raceway Ready for 20th Season!

"We've got a big season planned," Redmen Raceway owner/promoter Lee Booze stated at the start of his pre-season press conference.  "Its hard to believe we are heading into our 20th year of H.O. Slot car racing here at Redmen Raceway.  But we want to make it something special."

"Our main goal is to give the racers something to shoot for each week other than just points and a plaque.  Each week this season will feature a sizable trophy for the night's overall winner, and the biggest iron of all will go to the season champion."

The 2018-19 Season will see action over 11 nights (33 races), with a driver's best 30 finishes counting for the points chase.  "We like the ability to drop one night if need be, but last year we instituted a proxy option for a racer who can't make it."  Each driver will be allowed two proxy nights before they have to take a zero points night.  "We are hoping the proxy option will keep the points close, mainly because we understand that not everyone can make every show."

More importantly Redmen Raceway is REDUCING pit pass entry fees for 2018-19.  "This year we are rolling back our entry fees to 1998 pricing."  One night of racing will be $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for racers under 18 (ex. last season's rookie of the year Lily Missler!).

"With one of our toughest competitors out of the points chase (Christian Booze away at college) we expect some new blood to step in an give it a go this winter," said Booze at the press gathering.

Starting with a 4x8 sheet of plywood with a small Tyco track glued on to it in the basement of an apartment in 1998, Redmen Raceway had humble beginnings.  The current incarnation of the track features six computer scored lanes of high banked action on a 5x20 footprint.  Redmen Raceway features three main classes of H.O. scale slot cars all using reliable Tyco 440x2 chassis, Late Models, DIRT Modifieds and Sprint Cars.  Each night's racing consists of three main events, each run under a different format, passing points per lane, laps per lane and time per lane.

For the 2018-19 season racing will be on Thursday nights with doors opening at 6:30pm and racing beginning at 7:00pm (or thereabouts depending on how much 1:1 racing news there is to talk about first...).
